About

Hello there! I am Michelle Schiro, a Graphic Artist and Illustrator working in Madison, Wisconsin. I enjoy creating engaging design solutions and fun, whimsical illustrations.

I graduated with honors from UW-Whitewater in 2007 with a BA in Art with an emphasis in Graphic Design. For 9 years I worked professionally as a Graphic Designer for the library supply company Demco, Inc., where I designed packaging, posters, bulletin board sets, bookmarks, games, flash cards and many more products for the brands Edupress (elementary education), Upstart (libraries), and the Collaborative Summer Library Program.

From 2016–2018 I was employed as the first in-house Graphic Designer at MCD, Inc., a print finisher in Madison, WI. I design specialty products and marketing promotional pieces utilizing MCD's capabilities for foil stamping, embossing, UV coating, die cutting, screen printing, letterpress and more!

But as it turns out I missed my Demco family too much, so in 2018 I accepted a Production Artist position in the Creative Department, where I work on catalog pages, sell sheets, emails, and any other projects thrown my way.

I am also a freelance designer and illustrator and I sell vector illustrations on iStock.

In my free time I greatly enjoy knitting, running, photography, audiobooks, and spending time with my husband and our two daughters.

Please feel free to contact me at michelle@flyinggiraffestudio.com. I'd love to hear from you!
